The throw called Écru Highland is designed by Danish Cecilie Manz.
Écru Highland throw has a high weight, a powerful expression and details in the weave structure. The design is based on the outer edge, or selvedge, found on woven textiles. With Écru Highland, designer Cecilie Manz has transformed the selvedge from a practical necessity in textile production into a discreet and elegant motif. On the throws, the stripe is just a little more marked and lies as a single dotted line along the edge, resembling a simple, coloured seam.
Écru Highland is made from 70% baby alpaca and 30% Peruvian highland wool, which is known for its unique properties. The wool is thermoregulatory, meaning it can be up to seven times warmer than sheep's wool when it's cold, while appearing light and cool when temperatures rise. This is because alpaca wool fibres are hollow, and therefore naturally insulating. In addition, alpaca fibres are water-repellent and breathable, and the wool is hypoallergenic as it contains no lanolin, making it suitable for allergy sufferers.
Elvang is fair trade certified at the highest level by the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO). This is your guarantee that the throw is produced under decent conditions - both for the environment and people.
In general, there is no need to wash or dry clean wool as the material has self-cleaning properties and the fibres themselves have a unique structure that repels odours and dirt. The natural grease in the wool also helps to protect the material because it forms a film that prevents bacteria, for example, from penetrating, making frequent washing or cleaning unnecessary. If your throw does need to be cleaned, we recommend dry cleaning, which will keep its beautiful surface unchanged for as long as possible.
